The Conflict
Somali Civil War since 1991 caused destabilization throughout the country with frequent phase of the conflict seeing successive Somali Governments losing substantial control of the state to rebel forces. The unrest initially consisted of a series of clashes between various tribalist factions, but since the mid-2000s took a militant religious tone.
In Somalia, the Pakistani troops demonstrated courage and professional excellence in an extremely difficult and hostile environment.
